Glyclean Additives & Accessories

The Clarifier...
The most common accessory chemical used is the Clarifier (part# 00220). This product is used in the last 5 minutes of the recycling process. Since the coolant is only filtered to a five or one micron level, a lot of times the end product has some silt and submicron contamination that causes the coolant to look hazy or cloudy. Using the clarifier will allow you to agglomerate these particles and trap them in the filter, thus giving the antifreeze clarity and sparkle without the settling of sub-micron particulates.
Glyclean Anitfoam...
Only if excessive foaming is apparent will you need Antifoam (part# 00257). Used in original antifreeze, this concentrated product immediately destroys foam.
Liquid Green Dye...
The OEM Green Dye part# 00271 is strictly cosmetic and is added to appease the end user's specification for green colored coolant. It is the same dye as used in the original green antifreeze.
Oil Emulsion Breaker...
Regarding Oil Emulsion Breaker (part# 00259) it is only needed if there is oil contamination in the antifreeze. Hydrocarbonsbonded to the glycol solutions will give milky appearance. The Emulsion Breaker will separate the bond of the oil from glycol, coagulate the oil and remove it through filtration.
Oil Absorber...
Outside of the recycling process, if you have antifreeze in storage with oil settled out on top, sprinkle the resin Oil Absorber (part# 00258) on top. It absorbs twenty times its weight in hydrocarbonfluids, and then skim it off prior to recycling.
4000 Cooling System Treatment...
When using the formulation of the FPPF Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) 4000 Cooling System Treatment (part# 00149), it is required that a combined concentration of at least 700 ppm nitrite (NO2) plus molybdate (M0O4) is needed to provide superior protection to all metallic surfaces. A minimum of 300 ppm of each of the NO2 and M0O4 must be present.
| Note: These recomendations exceed the chemical requirements of SCAs as per the ASTM Designation D5752-95 (Standard Specification for Supplemental Coolant Additives for Use in Pre-charging Coolants for Heavy Duty Engines.) |
FPPF Recomends, that to check for proper cooling system corrosion maintenance, a SCA test (including both Nitrate & Molybdate) in conjunction with a freeze point and PH test be performed at 10,000 - 12,000 mile intervals or 300 operating hours for low mileage vehicles.
